Biggest Mediterranean Cruise Ship

A new Mediterranean cruise ship from P& O is set to be the biggest-ever ship to sail to the popular destination. The vessel is not yet named, but will be coming into service in March 2015 and will operate out of Southampton, UK.

The monster ship will weigh in at 141,000 tons and will be able to carry up to 3,611 passengers on regular cruises around the Mediterranean and Baltic region. It will be the second-largest cruise ship owned by the Carnival Corporation after the Queen Mary 2, which sails under the Cunard flag and is 10,000 tones heaver. Interestingly, though, the Queen Mary 2 can only carry 3,056 passengers. The UK continues to be a growth market for Carnival, and innovative vessels like this new ship are being targeted specifically to British clientele.
