Jersey Hotel Europe

A former military bunker on the island of Jersey in the English Channel is getting a second life as a hotel Europe can be proud of. The history of the building is tragic, as it was built by prisoners that the Nazis brought to the island from across Europe during World War 2. The intriguing details still remain, like the cast-iron door with bots and a heavy wrench-like handle. The bunker is on the ground floor of a radio tower on Jersey.

It is a stout concrete structure that now serves as a holiday home for travelers. The top floor once served as a Nazi watchtower, and is now a 360-degree observation deck and living room. The group Jersey Heritage is responsible for renovating this old building, along with 10 other historic fortifications on the island as a means of preserving the island's history and culture. Profits from the rentals are then put toward further restoration.
